Ian Lucket MSP Growth Hub: Long Term Goals

It had been three years since I last spoke to Ian Luckett, so I was excited to invite him back onto the IT Rockstars podcast and find out what he’s been up to.

Ian shared that the last time we spoke, he and Stuart Warwick had recently joined forces, transitioning from being independent MSP coaches to creating the MSP Growth Hub. They started with a clear vision: to help more MSPs, have more fun, make a bigger impact, and change more lives.

Fast forward to today, and Ian explained they’ve seen significant growth. The MSP Growth Hub now supports around 50 MSPs across the UK—approximately 65 dedicated professionals. They’ve expanded their services to include leadership training, tactical sales strategies, and tailored marketing support, specifically addressing the unique challenges MSPs encounter daily.

During our conversation, Ian and I noticed something intriguing: while there are thousands of MSPs across the UK, only a few hundred actively engage in community events or peer groups such as Tech Tribe and CompTIA. Ian emphasized that this leaves about 90% of MSPs focused solely on their clients without tapping into these supportive networks.

Ian revealed that to reach this untapped segment, they’re launching their “Ultimate MSP Growth Guide,” designed to help MSP owners who ask themselves, “I want to grow my business, but where do I even start?” According to Ian, the very first step outlined in their guide is defining a clear personal vision and understanding exactly what “winning” looks like for you. He stressed how many MSP owners lack even a basic roadmap for their goals, especially around preparing for an exit.

We also discussed the importance of building an MSP that can operate effectively without the owner’s day-to-day involvement—a concept Ian called “Owner Not Needed.” This strategic approach significantly boosts the company’s value and offers the owner a better quality of life and successful exit options.
